MILITARY SPOUSE & FAMILY PROGRAM
The USAWC Military Spouse & Family Program focuses on the spouses and families of the current class, as well as spouses and families of USAWC graduates who deployed after graduation. Throughout the year, this program conducts a variety of different trainings and sessions for the military spouse.
- The USAWC Facilitating Leadership and Group Skills (FLAGS) workshops allow participants to engage in activities to increase self-awareness, and improve group, team, and leadership skills.
- Executive Leader Development Course – Spouse (ELDC-S) is a rigorous academic program for those interested in further developing their leadership skills. Topics include data literacy and storytelling, mapping a communication strategy, public speaking, negotiations, and influence.
- Spouse Reading Program, also known as “Peggy’s Book Club,” compliments the Commandant’s Reading Program for Students. Books are selected by the Commandant’s spouse and provided to interested spouses. Often, the authors can be found joining in for group discussions. Funding for Peggy’s Book Club is provided by Peggy’s daughter, Mrs. Moira Kelly, who once was a child living at Carlisle Barracks while her father was attending the U.S. Army War College.
- Senior Spouse Leadership Seminar (SSLS) – A week-long, interactive seminar providing professional education and development around themes of strategic thinking, leadership, and connection. Attendees will leave USAWC better prepared for continued service at the strategic level alongside their servicemembers or government leaders.
