COL Phil Gage is coordinating efforts in the fight against COVID-19, serving as the Joint Forces Land Component Command (JFLCC) J3. U.S. Army North, U.S. Northern Command’s Theater Army, serves as the JFLCC for all federal ground troops in the whole-of-nation response to COVID-19. As Northern Command’s designated lead component to work with FEMA, we align federal military support to help communities in need. The JFLCC has rapidly employed scalable and tailored joint medical capabilities ranging from fully staffed hospitals, like at the Javits facility in NYC, to smaller integrated medical teams. Together with our federal, state, and territorial partners, the JFLCC is helping provide life-saving and life-sustaining medical support. So far (as of April 24th), Army North has mobilized more than 9,000 Title 10 personnel to assist state and local governments, integrated medical teams in 8 states, and provided more than 2,800 medical professionals serving in 15 Urban Augmentation Medical Task Forces and 6 Federal Medical Stations.
