As a traditional Guardsman, Lucas was serving in his business executive role when he felt symptoms and became one of those ‘presumptive positive” cases we read about. He was symptom-free on Day 12 of his 14-day self-isolation when he got the call to join the Georgia Army National Guard COVID-19 response team, and they agreed for him to complete his isolation before reporting. He notes the team has been working to dissect large problems into manageable ones, working across the Interagency at the state level, as well as hand-in-hand with Airmen at Dobbins Air Reserve Base. His takeaway is the amazing adaptability of Soldiers, rapidly transitioning into uniformed roles and providing leadership to other parts of the state government.
