BG Wood is Director of the Joint Staff for the Pennsylvania National Guard. His team has lead for the planning effort in National Guard support to civilian authorities across the Commonwealth. Taking direction from the Governor’s Office, the Adjutant General, and the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency, he and his joint staff have fully engaged the Guard’s disaster response expertise in helping fight the COVID-19 pandemic. Since March 2, 2020, we have been providing medical testing and screening, assessments, facilities, transportation, command and control, engineers, planners, liaison officers, and logistics. The unprecedented nature of this event and national scale have required coordination from county to county, and out to FEMA regions and beyond. The response and recovery efforts will continue for the foreseeable future as support for citizens and infrastructure remains in high demand.
