I’m a graduate from the U.S. Department of State. At present, I am serving as Consul General at the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia, where I am overseeing the USG effort to assist and repatriate U.S. citizens from this country. This is a difficult time to be overseas, especially in a country whose health system is challenged by endemic public health issues like tuberculosis and is fundamentally unequipped to handle the rapidly accelerating COVID outbreak. Nonetheless, along with my small team of Foreign Service Officers, I continue to work to provide emergency help to Americans stranded here, some of them seriously ill. My time at the USAWC proves valuable every day as I reassess priorities and plans, rebalance my resources, and look over the horizon to recovery and renewal of my operations. I’m sure hundreds, if not thousands, of other alumni, are also working the COVID response and no doubt making a difference.
