The Army War College Foundation is proud to feature books written by graduates and faculty in our biannual magazine. To supply information on your book, simply contact us with an image of the cover and a concise summary.

Additionally, the Foundation Gift Shop would be pleased to accept up to three donated copies of the book for store inventory. The author receives gift-in-kind credit for the donation. Then should additional copies be needed, the store would purchase them directly from the publisher.

CLASS REUNIONS

The Army War College Foundation typically organizes 20-year class reunions annually at Carlisle Barracks.  Scheduled activities can include a USAWC briefing, tours of the Carlisle Barracks grounds, a visit to the Army Heritage and Education Center, and seminar dinners.

The Class of 2000 reunion was held in the Spring of 2023.

Class of 2001:   April 11-13, 2024   –  cancelled due to low registrations 

Class of 2002:   May 16-18, 2024 –  cancelled due to low registrations 

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS

 The scholarship application window for academic year 2025-26 will be open from January 3, 2025 through March 3, 2025.  Winners and non-winners will be notified no later than May 1, 2025. 

The Army War College Foundation administers a competitive Scholarship Program.

2024 AWARD RECIPIENTS

• Open to high school seniors (beginning their college studies next fall) and college undergraduate students (freshmen through juniors).
• The application window opens annually the first week of January with an application deadline the first week of March.
• Generally, applicants must be the child of a Foundation Life Member in order to apply for the full range of Foundation Scholarship.
  • • NOTE: The Foundation also currently administers several  Distance Education (DDE) Alumni Scholarships  using the same competitive scholarship selection process.  Applicants for these DDE Alumni Scholarship must be the child of a DDE graduate but no AWC Foundation membership is required to apply for these.
• The application process is the same for all of the scholarships and each applicant will automatically be considered for all scholarships for which the applicant is eligible.
• Children of current Foundation Board of Trustees or current Foundation employees are not eligible to apply.
•  Award winners from previous years are not eligible to compete for a subsequent award.  Previous winners should NOT reapply. 

All valid applications are evaluated by an impartial committee with no relationship to any of the applicants, and the applications will be evaluated “in the blind” (names removed).  The final number and amounts of the Foundation Scholarships awarded will be determined after all applications are received and evaluated, but the award amounts will generally range from $500 – $1500, with a minimum of $25,000 total awarded each year.

Outstanding Alumni Service Award Program

A prestigious and visible means of honoring U.S. Army War College graduates who distinguish themselves through the extraordinarily outstanding achievements and contributions to their community or country.

REGIONAL ALUMNI EVENTS

The Army War College Foundation is proud to host an annual spring Alumni Dinner.  These dinners are held at a different location  throughout the United States each year in conjunction with our Spring board meeting.  Alumni dinners bring U.S. Army War College graduates, graduates of the National Security Seminar and Commandant’s National Security Program, Trustees from our Foundation Board, and Friends of the Foundation together for an evening of socialization and updates on College activities.  Traditionally held during the third week of March, we typically extend invitations to those within a two-hour commute of the selected venue.  Previous events have been held in locations such as: Tampa, Chicago, St. Louis, Huntsville, San Antonio, Fayetteville, New Orleans, and Miami.

In addition to the annual spring Alumni Dinner, the Foundation will also occasionally host other events as opportunities arise, such as at the Atlanta Council on International Relations, Brigham Young University in Provo, Lambeau Field in Green Bay, and New York City.

ALUMNI MEMORIAL

Set in a quiet spot on Forbes Avenue, the monument was completed in 1987 on the foundation of the former Post Chapel.  The inscription reads “In memory of graduates of the U.S. Army War College who have given their lives in combat.”   To date, 27 United States and International War College Graduates have been recognized for their ultimate sacrifice in combat operations.

Note:  COL Richard C. Rescorla represents the only exception to the “died in combat” principle.  Rescorla, a retired U.S. Army Reserve Officer, died in the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.  He is recognized on the memorial because his heroic efforts that day directly saved hundred of lives. 

The Class of 2015 enhanced the memorial by adding a map of the world, etched in granite, which reminds visitors of the international environment in which USAWC graduates serve.
