Alumni Hall & Park – Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to donate a lump sum in order to qualify for either the bronze medallion or a naming opportunity?
No, in fact, all your designated donations for the Alumni Hall and Park since 2021 count toward both the bronze medallion and a naming opportunity. In other words, if you have already earned and received the bronze medallion, you are on your way to earning a naming opportunity with what you’ve already donated. We are tracking this for you and will continue doing that. You can designate gifts to the Alumni Hall and Park periodically as you can, and it will be our pleasure to mail your bronze medallion to you when you reach the $1,000 level and beyond if you are interested in a naming opportunity.
Can family members or classmates go together to qualify for a naming opportunity?
Yes, absolutely. A family, a seminar, a class, etc. can have their donations identified and qualified with a particular naming opportunity. Notification to the Foundation of that intent is required so that the appropriate gifts can be “tracked” toward the desired naming opportunity.
If I choose a bench as a naming opportunity, can I request a specific location or area, e.g. Alumni Memorial, Alumni Park, or the Alumni Hall patio?
Yes. On a first-come, first-served basis, requests for naming opportunities for benches in specific areas (at the Alumni Memorial, Alumni Park, or Alumni Hall Patio) can be honored.
When should I commit to a naming opportunity if I am interested in one?
The most limited of the naming opportunities are the base coping naming options below the stained-glass windows in the Alumni Hall, so if you are interested in that area, please let us know as soon as possible but within the next six months. For the bench naming opportunities, you should plan to indicate your intention within the next 12 months, so we can format those to coincide with the construction timelines as well. A commitment can be confirmed with an initial donation and a follow-on pledge if you desire to spread out your gifts over several years!
If I have more questions about qualifying for a naming opportunity, who should I contact?
Please email either Ruth Collins or Mark O’Donnell at ruth.collins@usawc.org or mark.odonnell@usawc.org. General campaign donation questions can also be emailed to info@usawc.org.
