I was completing my Fellowship at Syracuse University when I was asked by ARNORTH to report to my follow-on assignment location in a TDY status to fill a critical vacancy as the Defense Coordinator with FEMA as they lead the National effort to combat COVID-19. I am responsible for all (Joint) DoD support to FEMA Region IV (AL, MS, GA, FL, TN, KY, NC, SC), a region that is often in the path of most major hurricanes.
