Corporate Development Officer
Kaitlyn Sands joined the Army War College Foundation in October 2018 as the Corporate Development Officer. She is the Foundation lead for raising support to the U.S. Army War College from corporations and foundations; for conducting research and making connections to broaden and deepen corporate relationships and involvement with the College; and for introducing corporate and foundation leaders to the College mission of educating future strategic leaders.
Prior to this position, Kaitlyn served for five years as the Associate Director of Annual Giving Programs at the U.S. Naval Academy Foundation. While at Navy, she was charged with large-scale fundraising of both alumni and parents for the Naval Academy Fund. Prior to her arrival in Annapolis, Kaitlyn spent six years at West Point’s Association of Graduates focusing on legacy gift planning and major gift reporting as part of a $400 million comprehensive fundraising campaign. In both roles, Kaitlyn worked with prospective donors to identify and support critical needs, underfunded or not funded by the government.
Kaitlyn is a former Military Police Reservist who was commissioned as an active duty Military Police Officer through the Army’s Officer Candidate School. Her assignments include Camp Humphreys, Republic of Korea, and Fort Carson, Colorado, where she deployed in support of the initial phase of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Kaitlyn holds a BA in English with honors from the University of Oklahoma, an MBA from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, and an MS in Nonprofit and Association Management from the University of Maryland University College.
Kaitlyn resides with her husband and daughters outside of Annapolis, Maryland.
